While music festivals seem to occupy a central place, Britain has an impressive selection art festival to fill the summer festival calendar. Heres a summary of five main options:

International Festival Edinburgh

Known worldwide for its blend of the best in music, theater, opera and dance, the Festival Edinburgh International runs from August 13 to September 5 this year. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival accompanying the largest arts festival in the worldalways offers a wide range of performances and stunning with its open access policy. Tickets to the Edinburgh International Festival will be available in March.

Brighton Festival

The program for the Brighton Festival always includes an impressive array of art, music, street entertainment and theater.
