Tidewater Virginia Festivals

Tidewater Virginia has an interesting schedule of festivals. The following is a list of some of the festivals Popular extends from April to December.

Virginia Arts Festival

Started in 1997 as a way of promoting tourism, this spring festival shows artists from around the world and the best professional artists Virginia. The Arry presentations involving music, theater and dance. Festival events take place in eight cities in Hampton Roads in concert halls, art centers, opera houses, theaters, museums, outdoor venues, and historic churches.

North American Sand Soccer Championships

North American Sand Soccer Championships, held annually in Virginia Beach in early June. Between games, players and spectators, mingle and relax on the beach. Often during the event, assist vendors sell food and art in the promenade. The teams for this event are a mix of adults, adolescents and young children. They are all men, equipment, teams of all women and mixed teams comprising each division. A Pro division includes a team of U.S. and other countries.

Norfolk Jazz Festival

Venue: City Point Park for two days, this is the region's longest running jazz festival outdoors. The festival of recruits nationally recognized artists, as well as a selection favorite local and regional jazz.

The Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show & Festival

The boardwalk of Virginia Beach Art Show & Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the Commonwealth. Attendance often exceeds 350,000 visitors and art sales may exceed $ 2 million a year. The event has been ranked Top 50 works of art and design exhibition in the country by Sunshine Artist magazine. Artist Award prize money totaled over $ 30,000 in 2008, landmark that has attracted high caliber artists and art collectors ever since.

Suffolk Peanut Festival

Suffolk Peanut Fest offers concerts, rides, contests and competitions, a demolition derby, a truck and towing tractor, motorcycle rally, fireworks and entertainment local and national levels. The event has appeared in numerous magazines, including Virginia Business, Southern Living, Southern Farmers Almanac, Best Festivals-Middle Atlantic, between others.

Hampton Jazz Festival

The Hampton Jazz Festival is held every year during the last full weekend in June. The organizers of the festival assess available jazz, R & B and blues artists on tour during festival time, bringing the best musicians possible. Held at the Hampton Coliseum, the place is highly respected by Hampton residents and visitors.

Bayou Boogaloo & Cajun Food Festival

The Bayou Boogaloo and Cajun Food Festival is Norfolk Annual New Orleans and the Bayou celebration of culture. This summer festival three days supply the heart and soul of Louisiana to visitors to the city in a true Point Park Cajun and Creole style.

Norfolk Latino Music Festival

This August festival has the largest dance floor in Hampton Roads air filled with salsa, Merengue, Guaguanco and dance and live music by local, regional and national Latin artists recording.

Newport News Fall Festival of Folklife

The Newport News Fall Folk Festival is held in Newport News. It is larger in Southeast Virginia traditional craft show with over 200 vendors, crafts, trade, entertainment, food and activities for children.

Holidays in the City

Holidays in the City celebrates 25 years with six weeks magical holiday, greeting holiday of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Year. The festivities at the end of November with the Grand Illumination skyline. The highlight is the annual Grand Illumination Parade in floats, marching bands, giant balloons, dancers and a parade through downtown Norfolk Santa himself.
