History of Nottingham
The city of Nottingham in the East Midlands of England, is based on the rivers Trent and Leen. The city itself has about 300,000 inhabitants, while the city and its surroundings and the city has about 700,000 people.
The history of settlement in the area dates from long before the Romans, and there numerous signs of Roman settlement at the time too. In the 11th century, William the Conqueror established the first castle of Nottingham a hill opposite the town Anglo-Saxon, with a solution of Norman French who grow up around their walls. Gradually the two groups merged in a big city, and in 1449, Nottingham became a "county business", which allowed self-government. Nottinghamshire became famous as a center for wool and cloth trade, and annual goose fair was attended by traders from all over the country.
In the Middle Ages, the legends of Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham emerged located in the local Sherwood Forest north of the city. Many historians have created contradictory assumptions about people and the real facts under the layers produced of the legend, it is likely we will never know the truth. The stories of Robin Hood remains a popular attraction for tourists and historians alike, however, and names and symbols of the legend are still important parts of local color.
There are three different bars in Nottingham, who claim to be the oldest pub in England: Ye Olde trip to Jerusalem, greeting, and the bell, each seems to have some legitimate claim to the title.
Nottingham Castle built wooden by the Normans was replaced with a stone, and extended by many of their most real, until his defenses were rendered obsolete by the invention of guns. The old stone castle was destroyed after the execution of Charles I in 1649, then rebuilt as a "Castle Mansion" after the Restoration.
Nottingham had been known by the trade in fabrics and lace-making for centuries, but became a museum of industry and the Revolution Industrial late 18th century Nottingham started in the era of giant factories, warehouses, transportation and machinery industries. However, the changes were not as kind to the workers as they were for the owners, and the castle of Nottingham was burned again in 1831 by rioting slum dwellers, and will not recover until 1878 when he became the Nottingham Castle Museum, the first public museum in England.

The University of Nottingham opened its doors (like the "University College") In 1877, he joined nearly a hundred years later by the Nottingham Trent University. The well-regarded Nottingham School of Fashion was founded by the famous designer local menswear Paul Smith.
In 1889 Nottingham became a county borough, which was extended a couple of times during the following decades by increasing inclusion of nearby towns. The city is an interesting mix of architectural styles, which contains everything from the medieval walls and houses to Victorian styles and Georgia, created by some of the most prestigious architects of England. Local attractions include the Plaza Mayor, the Council House and Wollaton Hall, which once housed the city's museum of natural history.
In recent years, historic preservation and modern development has come hand in hand. Stone ancient caves beneath the city retained the commercial development of the town began, and now open to the public as a museum exhibition on the Mall Broadmarsh basket. The 19th-century buildings Lace Market are side by side with the artists' quarter of Hockley Village. At night, the best restaurants and nightclubs to entertain visitors enjoying it and Brewhouse Yard Museum of Robin Hood, tours for the day. Music, art and culture are well funded through the city of Nottingham.
