David Shepherd: Conservationist Artist

David Shepherd is classified as an artist, naturalist and conservationist Painter. Born in 1931 in the town of Hendon, a suburb of England in London. At the age of 8 he won a competition for children "painting sponsored by the magazine Nursery World." After completing Throughout his early life rejection seemed to haunt Mr. Shepherd. Although it has been refused admission to the Slade School of Fine Art, luck turned when it was discovered and under the wing preparation of Robin Goodwin. During his three years of working together Goodwin will help you achieve your artistic view even though they both have a job caustic and learning relationship, Shepherd Goodwin never relinquished. Many considered Shepherd to be master of what is considered "Bad Art". Over the years that he painted what and the method was that he felt comfortable. His decision came days when he made a trip to Africa and saw a well of poisoned water with lots of zebra dead. And from there began to paint what he had seen on the savannah plains and parts of Africa. His most widely reproduced and sought after paintings and prints elephants are large. His painting style was now of naturalism and its composition gave the viewer a sense of size, texture and feel location and real time without photographs. "Surround, calling and testimony," said an artistic critique.

In 1960, life took a shift not only with the discovery of the slaughter of zebra at the watering hole. But at that moment with disgust and anger became a conservationist. Her voice was passionate about what happening to the wildlife of his beloved Africa spread to their own lives and into their own pockets. That day set the stage for forming a conservation group proactive, David has given much of their time and money to help this great cause that is believed as stronly. Through the sale of his art and the collection of HRH Prince Michael Kent as their employer, plus the support of celebrities his work grew and spread to the financing and training of personnel for the protection of wildlife Africa. One of the most important projects the foundation is not rehabilitation and care of a baby wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, lions, tigers, etc whose mothers have been hunted and killed by poachers. It has opened the way to supply funds and material needs and to care and teach these endangered species. Since 1989, Mr. Shepherd has been awarded numerous honorary doctorates in Fine Arts and honorary degrees for his contribution to wildlife conservation savings, and is still very active today. As he mentioned in interviews has been done, which runs every waking moment painting "Also admits that the paintings not only for their livelihoods but of the needs of those who help wildlife.

Permanent exhibitions and facilities with its collection of works abound. The Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum in London and The Mall Gallery in London has some of the largest collections of Sheperds work. It also has a traveling show of selected works to introduce everyone to the cause and work. Primarily focused on in the United Kingdom, the National Wildlife Museum Wildlife in Wyoming has two of his paintings "Lion at rest" and "Four knights of Selous."

Today. Mr. Sheperds art "is very appreciated and requested, the values continue to reach record levels. Lithographs are one of the most sought after works of art that is produced. Affordable to those who want to paint, but can not afford them. The original paintings investors have seen their values rapidly escalating trade hands like that. Investing in lithographs while not as high as the paintings may have a higher price as you age, especially if the lithography has something special. Regardless of the choice of medium, the beauty of the paintings of David Shepherd and signed, limited edition prints can be enjoyed and appreciated by many thousands of people around the world and is recognized as one of the artists in the world of wildlife around.

How can an artist find their voice?

I am a filmmaker and writer who graduated from film school a year ago. I've written a few scripts here or there, but the problem is every idea occurred to me just seems to be something that was inspired by other television or film. The best way to say, I have no voice "yet. And when I say voice, I mean an artist has a peculiar thing that inspires them to be creative, that differentiate them from other artists. So what my fellow artists (painters, animators, filmmakers, writers, musicians, etc etc) do to find their own voice? Are there any exercises you do? Is it simply a matter of sitting down, reflect, and profound examination of conscience? This has really put a stop to my creativity, and is lucky to run my motivation to create any entry stranded ... would be great.

First, I think it's okay to be inspired by a show / book / movie or whatever and then write a similar story to the plot - as a starting point. I remember my first draft of my book was about a fanfic of a program called Early Edition. But I did years subtle changes here and there, and now after - my story has absolutely nothing in common with the show. (Well, I have a character who likes to read the paper by morning, but come on ...) But the problem with this is that probably can not work on a history of years, right? I think I found my "voice" when I met my characters almost look after them as if they were real human beings. That's what happens when you spend X years a number one book, I suppose. That, or I am a bug rare - and I will not deny that I am. I asked a few questions why, like why become like this? And such. Maybe you could start with the development of a character or characters, and then work your way around - instead of structuring a plan first?
