The Worst Movies in the Theaters Now

A list of some of the worst films in the theater today that you’d be best to avoid. Spend your money another film, do not watch the films in this list, if you have any self respect. Put your motorcycle helmet on and ride home if your friend suggests going to this movie.

Leap Year

Starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode, “Leap Year†really wants to be the next “Notebook†type of romantic comedy for the ladies. Most of the praise of the film is for Adams, who many consider one of the more likable actresses in the business today, but other than that there isn’t much good to say about the film. Most critics have noted how predictable the film is and how it lacks any real charm or imagination to turn it into anything more than a typical, boring rom-com for housewives and single women to watch and swoon at, wishing they were the female lead.

Daybreakers

The vampire obsession continues with this dark and stylish horror film by directors Peter and Michael Spierig who have created a story about modern vampires who are now in control of the planet, making normal humans the outcasts of society. Strangely, Ethan Hawke and William Dafoe play major roles in this film which really does seem a bit below their usually quality film fare. If you are looking for an in-you-face vampire “Matrix†film than “Daybreakers†is right down your alley, but you’d be wise to spend your money elseware.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

I still can’t fathom how anyone can sit through a full length Chipmunks film. Little kids will probably love it but I frankly feel bad for any adults that have to sit through this travesty. The sad thing is that Dreamworks and Pixar have created some of the most exciting, artists and unique kids animated films in recent years that you would hope would stop people from greenlight stupid kids fare like this film. I would rather spend my time sitting on my deck in my new patio set, but sometimes you've got to please the kids, sadly.

What's an estimated salary for a teaching artist?

I'm moving back to NYC this fall after being away for a few years, and I'm trying to establish myself as a teaching artist of theater and possibly music. I've done a lot of digging and I am working on applying to various companies to start with. Anyone have an idea as to how much money teacing artists typically make per hour; and how many hours can I expect to work per week if I associate myself with several groups?

This all depends on the group that you associate yourself with. If you wind up teaching in an afterschool program, not very much. But if you wind up with a more prestigious theatre company or a magnet school for the arts, there's more to be made. Not much more, but some.
