Color Your Own
"Blue and green should never be seen, except in the washing machine!" When I first heard this song recently, I was in the general store on Main Street in a small town ironically called Rosetown meadow. The city belied its name. Unlike a lush and vibrant flower, it was a dry and dusty. The colors of the buildings and signs had been bleached by the sun or eroded by wind. Still, he had a charm Rosetown only a small prairie town can muster. It was mid-August and spending a week with family friends, who had a daughter my age, the main street was our recreation center and general store, our mall. Shopping was limited, but Ellen had seen a pair of green shoes sitting in his box in the window the store. He loved the style, but wanted royal blue to match the new school clothes. Ah, the coveted shoes only came in one color - bright green. For me, was not a problem - you could wear green to blue. My suggestion was immediately rejected with a rhyme.
I always thought that green and blue are not very well sit side by side. After all, think of trees and sky. Choose colors for a knitting project that are pleasing to the eye and in a balanced mix, is usually achieved by the artistic instinct or by using the scientific method of color theory. Most of us react emotionally to color, often certain colors associated with memories, whether pleasant or unpleasant, and respond positively or negatively when confronted with a combination of colors in particular.
We also absorb suggestions of colors displayed in nature and in various visual media that come into our lives. You can not help noticing combinations colors outside our windows and doors, whether subtle gradations of green leaves in autumn shades of orange, gold and red or spring tulips appear in all colors Some even change color as they mature. These combinations can inspire us only natural to use these colors in a range of simple or complex Fair Isle pattern. Interesting color combinations are shown in cultivated land and is designed rooms in gardening and home decorating magazines. Maintain a file of clippings and photos Agreements nice color display can be used as a source of inspiration for a new knitting project.
Often color options available for weave a yarn chosen are somewhat limited by the long shadow that is offered in that particular brand. In this case, a "basket" approach may be useful. Place all the colors of thread that you think might work together for a specific project in a basket. Place the basket where you can spend many times during the day. In some passages, stop and rearrange the colors, hide more than one and leaving more than another. In other cases, give only a quick glance, or a long look. It may be days, but in the end the color scheme becomes a pleasure or an option to be discarded as unfit.
A more scientific approach to choosing a color implies the study of color theory as shown in the color wheel. Certainly, there may be a useful assistant as a starting point when deciding on a color scheme determined. Also act as a troubleshooter if a particular "artistic" color decision becomes difficult. The color wheel is composed twelve colors and shows the relationships between colors. It is arranged that any two primary colors (red, yellow, blue) are separated by colors secondary (orange, violet, and green). Primary colors are basic and can not be mixed with other elements. You can mix two primary colors to give rise to a color secondary. The remaining six colors are called tertiary colors and are the result of mixing one primary and one secondary color. Complementary colors are opposite each other on the wheel. Link color with its complementary color will make both colors are vibrant. A color wheel is available in an art store along with other tools and publications who can assist in selecting and matching colors.
If you are the artist's instinct or science that using both can help with finding a balance color that pleases you. That is the key - you like and will satisfy the image is in the eye of the "mind" of the new knitting.

tattoo artists? questions about the colors of ink?
I have a new tattoo idea in mind, I know exactly the size and shape and all the little things .... except in color here is my problem. I want a tattoo of gear in the wrists (three small gears on each wrist). Want to the kind that come in pocket watches and clocks and things. now, the gears are usually made of bronze or some other yellow metal. im pale. as, no gross sickly looking, pale, but I'm very pale. So Im wondering if the ink in any kind of coppery hue will seem strange? or is there some way it works? brass jewelry looks good against my skin, but the ink is different for im asking. im cool with it in black and gray, you have to be, I realized that the colors metal may not work with my skin
Well as its pale color displays any better than darker skin (from seeing the ink through yes skin, dark complexion inks can look "muddy"). So I think she was probably right, I do not think a bronze or gold "shock" your skin as it tones usually look good on any skin tone.
