New York and Broadway

Every time I think about a trip to New York for either holiday or simply a short-or two-day visit I can not stop thinking Broadway and the delightful shows that await in these hallowed halls of entertainment delight. Broadway is the essence of New York for me. Turn can be bawdy, shouting, strong, loud, soft, romantic, funny, rip-roaringly hilarious. Broadway has everything for those who are willing to find their perfect fit.

The problem with Broadway is that there are wonderful performances as much to do and such a limited time (for most of us) to see. Do not even believe that those who live in New York has long enough to appreciate the artistic treasure that is represented in this wonderful city that never sleeps. The truth of the matter is that to properly enjoy all theatrical offerings available, it could never have to sleep alone.

Music

It is important to remember that all programs are not available at all times. Check if the program you want to see play during your visit before getting your hopes up. On to the musicals, which are, of course, my favorite types of Broadway entertainment. Chicago, the Musical, Forbidden Broadway (this provides a "hilarious parody 'of Broadway), Jersey Boys, Naked Boys Choir (yes, son!), Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Wicked and Mama Mia!

Comedy

Broadway is well known for flouting convention and to let the hair down and with a time of old friends. The same goes for Broadway theater today. Comedies and musicals on Broadway are not mutually exclusive by what some of the hilarity listed below will have some degree of song and dance (and probably a little of both, but surely laughs). That comedies begin! I Love You, your perfect, now change (seriously, that's the name that we are already off to a great start on the road of laughter). God sees Dog: Confessions of a Blockhead teenager (I think someone has been watching children in my windows at night this one is actually off Broadway but I thought I had to cite an attractive title and all). Spamalot. This is a rising star with rave reviews by critics and a fairly good attendance rate so buy your tickets in advance! The producers, who recently became a movie and The Little Dog Laughed bringing my comedy. I hope you've seen something here that looks like a good laugh, I know I've seen a few!

Drama

While many people think of the happy go lucky song and dance that is often associated with Broadway there is a deep dramatic flare to the offerings as well. In particular, some of the musicals that carry profound messages about music, life and love between these wonderful icons of Broadway are as follows: Rent-a-very Boheme meets modern life musical that is probably one of the best Broadway musicals I've seen and I am a big fan of Phantom. Les Miserables is another Broadway drama that really needs no introduction, Grey Gardens is perfect for anyone who fears becoming a cat lady or single, A Chorus Line, Chicago, The Color Purple, The Phantom of the Opera (my personal favorite), and The Vertical Hour (this is new, hopefully last).

There is a family nice music and a few plays that are worth mentioning among them are: Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera (May be a bit frightening for younger children during certain scenes), Tarzan, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Momma Mia!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Beauty and the Beast. You know your child best and they will or may not be frightening for them or possibly lead to uncomfortable questions for you, see works on Broadway with that in mind.

Broadway is a great way to enjoy really what New York has to offer to its visitors for entertainment. While it would be possible to see every show that can attract their attention is likely make time to see the one that is more appealing to you and will be quite an experience for the whole family.
