Palm Beach, Florida Vacation

Located about 65 miles north of Miami, Palm Beach is on the side sea of the Intracoastal Waterway. Known as "The Island", the fate of Florida is best known for their winter homes of the rich and famous, where ostentatious wealth and Privilege are the norm.

Palm Beach has been the preferred winter residence of families like Rockefeller, Kennedy and Pulitzer, and has a population of 20,000 in summer, increasing to 40,000 in winter.

This is a private beach area, oceanfront mansions, luxury cars, fashion boutiques, brand labels face and jewelry stores. There is a place for the budget conscious visitors. Rodeo Drive is the east coast.

Luxury hotels in Palm Beach are popular with visitors appreciate the 5-star service, restaurants and up market shopping. Palm Beach Accommodation Other typically consists of cottages along the ocean and inns, resorts, motels and condominiums.

A highlight of Palm Beach is the shop, with glass multilevel shopping malls and a historic shopping area with exclusive shops and boutiques. There are over 2,000 restaurants offering every imaginable cuisine throughout the Palm Beach area. There are cultural sites, a world-class art museum and an active nightlife bars and clubs.

A little known fact is that the Palm Beach area is also one of the best birding sites in the state.

Through the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Beach is the center of the city known as West Palm Beach, population 80,000 more, which is where I live and work less wealthy. Accommodation in West Palm Beach is much more affordable than in Palm Beach and the shops and nightlife with many bars, clubs and restaurants.

An urban renewal project has resulted West Palm Beach emerging from the shadow of its more illustrious neighbor in the water. The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is one of the major cultural centers in florida. The pedestrian CityPlace centers only attract visitors and tourists to their concerts, cultural events, shops and bars.

The main companies carriers such as Air Canada, American Airlines, Continental, Delta and AirTran service Palm Beach International Airport and the economy of several companies also operate Flights to and from the airport. Amtrak has a terminal in West Palm Beach

Most visitors may opt for a rental car in this area, although the public transport system is a convenient way to get places in both West Palm Beach and the island. Palm Tran has service to 32 routes with more than 140 buses. In downtown West Palm, free shuttles connect to all major centers and tourist destinations.
